Attention up arrows: pointing to a new direction
Abstract
It was long believed that central cursor requirement to must spatially predictive to produce a shift within spatial caution. Recent evidence indicates, though, that central spatially nonpredictive turning cues, like arrows, will trigger reflecting shifts included attention. We asking what this recent rediscovery means for past studies such used predicting directional cues such as arrows. To findings indicate that predictive arrows produce listen effects the greatly exceed the individual or cumulated influence of reflexive orienting to nonpredictive arrows and volitional orienting to proactive numbers. Aforementioned insinuates that the especially large effect made per predictive arrows reflects an interaction between reflexive and volitional orienting. Given the broad application of the predicting arrow cueing paradigm on both passed and current research, the present data shed new light on a wide product of investigations, from psychophysical studies of basic attention to behavioural and neuroimaging studies of aware or social development.
